December 26, 2007
Lyrichord Discs and Edition Roland, two adventurous and innovative record labels, are the latest additions to the ever-growing roster of independent labels appearing on the Naxos Music Library (www.naxosmusiclibrary.com).
Lyrichord Discs, based in New York, has a rich history. Founded over fifty years ago, the label’s catalog is particularly eclectic with a strong focus on world and early music. Lyrichord’s world music catalog leaves no point on the compass untouched, while its classical catalog boasts such artists as soprano Julianne Baird and a series of seminal early music records by the legendary countertenor Russell Oberlin, tenor Charles Bressler and gambist Seymour Barab.
Edition Roland is a music publishing and production company based in Munich, Germany. Their outstanding recordings encompass a wide range of the classical repertoire, from superb compilations of chamber and choral music to Vivaldi’s Four Season’s to Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances.
With more than 18,000 CDs and 262,000 tracks of music, the Naxos Music Library is unlike any other online music service. Growing at a rate of nearly 500 CDs added each month, the Naxos Music Library offers practically all the standard classical music repertoire as well as a vast range of specialist repertoire including world music, jazz and nostalgia titles.
