Fine Arts Quartet and Cristina Ortiz Record Fauré

January 9, 2008

The illustrious Fine Arts Quartet and Brazilian pianist Cristina Ortiz recently recorded two major works for chamber music by Gabriel Fauré, the Piano Quintets Op. 89 and Op. 115. A renowned concert pianist and dedicated chamber musician, Ortiz has worked with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy and Neeme Järvi and orchestras including the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics. The Fine Arts Quartet's recording of Schumann's string quartets (Naxos 8.570151) was given excellent reviews and was described as "one of the very finest chamber music recordings of the year" (ARG, September/October 2007).

Sessions took place at the Performing Arts Center of the State University of New York. Steven Epstein was the producer engineer.
