Five World Premières at Cabrillo Festival 2008

Cabrillo Festival, renowned for its adventuresome programming of contemporary music, will present its 46th Anniversary Season from July 27 to August 10, 2008, at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium and Mission San Juan Bautista, California. Marin Alsop, Music Director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, returns for her 17th season to conduct the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra.

This season includes five world première performances. There will be twelve composers-in-residence including: John Corigliano, Christopher Rouse, Mason Bates, Alla Borzova, Dorothy Chang, Chiayu, Matthew Cmiel, Michael Daugherty, Avner Dorman, Eric Lindsay, Stephen McNeff, and David Sanford. Prominent soloists such as percussionist Evelyn Glennie, cellist Matt Haimovitz and clarinetist Bharat Chandra will make their appearances.
