Winner of Tarrega Guitar Competition Records for Naxos May 20, 2008
From April 17 to 20, Spanish guitarist Rafael Aguirre, winner of the 2007 International Francisco Tarrega Competition, recorded a recital album for Naxos.
Recorded were Fantasia Op. 16 (Sor); Francaise, Ariette (Ibert); Sarabande (Poulenc) / Tiento (Ohana); Partita, Sentimento, Yemaya (Rautavaara); Estudio de escalas (Clerch) / Estudio No. 12 (Villa-Lobos); Capricho Catalan (Albeniz); Serenata Espanola (Malats) / El carnaval de Venecia (Tarrega).
Sessions took place at St. John Chrysostom, Newmarket, Canada and were produced and engineered by Norbert Kraft and Bonnie Silver.
