Alfano Premieres October 3, 2008
Cellist Sam Magill, pianist Scott Dunn and violinist Elmira Darvarova recorded chamber music by Franco Alfano for Naxos over two days in June at the M&I Studios in New York. The works included premiere recordings of the composer’s Sonata for Cello and Piano and the Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano. Longstanding New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra member Magill made his Naxos debut last year with Vernon Duke’s Cello Concerto in the label’s American Classics series [Naxos 8.559286]. Dunn recorded and orchestrated Duke’s Piano Concerto included on the same disc.
