John Corigliano in Sydney, Australia

August 19, 2009

John Corigliano

Grammy and Oscar Award-winning American composer John Corigliano appears at 6:00pm on 11 September 2009 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as the inaugural international composer for the Con’s centenary celebration project: 101 Compositions for 100 Years.

The Conservatorium festivities include the Australian premiere of Corigliano’s wildly imaginative Bob Dylan song cycle, Mr Tambourine Man (8.559331), which received its premiere recording on Naxos last year and won the 2008 Grammy for Best Classical Contemporary Composition.

In his exclusive lecture for Sydney Ideas at 6:30pm on 7 September at Sydney Conservatorium of Music (book through City Recital Hall Angel Place), Corigliano will take the listener through the creation of a work, from the commission through the process of building the piece. Read more
