Naxos welcomes Tactus

August 1, 2013

Founded in 1986 by Serafino Rossi, and now in the hands of his son Gian Enzo, the Italian label Tactus is devoted exclusively to preserving and promoting the country’s classical music heritage.

Its 560-plus titles range from Gregorian chant to contemporary works, played on original instruments where appropriate to capture the music’s authentic style and natural sound. One of the label’s core aims is to present complete sets of works by individual composers: the project to record all the keyboard works of Girolamo Frescobaldi was completed in 2010; ongoing projects include the complete keyboard works of Alessandro Scarlatti; the organ works and chamber music of Marco Enrico Bossi; and the piano works of Giovanni Sgambati.

Many accomplished performers have launched their recording careers with the label, which received two GRAMMY® nominations for its discs of concertos by Vivaldi (1997) and Corelli (2000).
