A warm welcome to ArcoDiva
February 10, 2014
Founded in 1998, ArcoDiva is one of Central Europe’s leading independent classical music producers. Based in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, the company releases around 15 new titles each year, adding to its current catalogue of more than 130 entries, many of which have been recognised with international awards.
Included in ArcoDiva’s projects for 2014 is the world première recording of Alfred, an operatic rarity by Dvořák, while previous notable recordings have included the same composer’s oratorio Saint Ludmila and the Requiem, plus Martinů’s opera The Day of Charity.
ArcoDiva places particular emphasis on recording contemporary works by the younger generation of Czech composers, notably those of the Quattro Group—Sylvie Bodorová, Zdeněk Lukáš, Luboš Fišer and Otmar Mácha. The company’s roster of artists includes leading Slovak soloists and orchestras, including the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. Performances are captured by state-of-the-art 24bit/96 kHz recording technology, with Jiri Štilec at the company’s helm. Štilec is also currently Head of the Music Management Department at Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts.
