“Farewell to London” and “Variations on Rule Britannia” by Ries recorded in Liverpool

January 22, 2007

On January 9 and 10, Austrian pianist Christopher Hinterhuber recorded the Ries Piano Concerto "Abschieds-Concert von England” ("Farewell to London") with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic conducted by Uwe Grodd. The Concerto will be coupled with Introduction et Variations Brillantes, Op. 170 and Grand Variations on "Rule Britannia", Op. 166.  These world-premiere recordings are part of the ongoing Naxos project to record the complete works for piano and orchestra of Ries. The sessions were produced and engineered by Tim Handley.
