Full Spectrum of music by Stanley Walden March 14, 2007
Spectrum Concerts Berlin recorded four pieces by contemporary American composer Stanley Walden in Berlin on March 1-2. The music was Maquettes - Studies for two pianos, Horn Trio, Five Similes and Sh'mah - Duo for violin and cello. The sessions coincided with a Berlin concert including the same works, about which music critic Isabel Herzfeld said, "Anyone would need to roam the earth's complete surface for years to find musicians capable of performing these pieces better than they have been performed by Spectrum".
The musicians were Julia-Maria Kretz, violin, Bernhard Krug, horn, Julia-Maria Kretz, violin, Jens Peter Maintz, cello, Robert Levin and Ya-Fei Chuang, piano. The sessions took place at the Kammermusiksaal of the Philharmonie in Berlin, Germany, and were produced by Christopher Franke. |
