Nigel North completes his recording of lute music by John Dowland

July 12, 2007

With the recording of a fourth volume between June 27 and July 1, Nigel North completed his cycle of lute music by Dowland. Nigel North was a founding member of the influential early music ensemble Romanesca, as well as Professor of Lute at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama for over 20 years.

Classic FM wrote about Volume 2 (8.557862), “Nigel North is one of Britain's most respected lutenists, and this, the second of a four-album project, is very fine indeed, beautifully played and well recorded.” All four discs were recorded at St. John Chrysostom Church, Newmarket, Toronto, with producers Norbert Kraft and Bonnie Silver.
