The Songs of Clara Schumann Recorded in Germany

August 13, 2007

The complete songs of Clara Schumann, wife of the immortal composer Robert Schumann, were recently recorded for Naxos by soprano Dorothea Craxton and pianist Hedayet Djeddikar.

The 29 songs recorded include "Er ist gekommen", "Liebst du um Schönheit" and "Warum willst du andere fragen?", originally published with nine additonal songs composed by Robert as Liebesfrühling, Op. 37.

The recording sessions took place between July 23rd and 28th at the Schumannhaus in Zwickau, Germany. The producer and engineer for the recording were, respectively, Studio Beoton and Thomas Wieber. The piano used was one which belonged to Clara Schumann herself.
