Fine Arts Quartet Records Chamber Works of Anton Bruckner
October 10, 2007
Anton Bruckner, whose nine symphonies are cornerstones of the orchestral reportoire, composed four works for chamber ensemble. Two of them are larger-scale works, Quartet in c and the impressive Quintet in F, and two are smaller works, a Rondo in c for string quartet and an Intermezzo in d for string quintet. The Fine Arts Quartet, an ensemble with an illustrious history, recently recorded all four of these works for Naxos together with guest Gil Sharon, the founder of the Amati Ensemble, who here performed as second violist for the quintet works.
The sessions were held over four days in late September at the Salle du Parlement, le Palais de Justice in Besançon, France, and were produced and engineered by Florian B. Schmidt.
