New Addition to Naxos Deutsche Schubert Lied Edition
November 7, 2007
From October 8 to 12, tenor Jan Kobow recorded the next volume in Naxos' cycle of Schubert’s complete Lieder, the sixth volume in a sub-set devoted to settings of works by Poets of Sensibility. Kobow was accompanied on piano by Ulrich Eisenlohr, who has been the pianist and artistic leader throughout the series. Since winning first prize in the 1998 International Bach Competition Kobow has been praised as one of the finest singers of his generation. The recordings were made at Studio 2, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Munich, Germany and included 14 lieder on poems by Johann Gaudenz von Salis-Seewis, together with settings of texts by six other poets. Pauline Heister was the producer, with Jörg Moser as the engineer.
