Diapason d’Or for Robert Hill’s recording of keyboard works by W.F. Bach
January 17, 2008
This month Robert Hill’s recording of keyboard music by Wilhelm Friederich Bach was awarded the prestigious French critics’ award, the Diapason d’Or. The recording includes 12 Polonaises, F. 12, Keyboard Sonata in D major, F. 3 and Fantasia in A minor, F. 23. Having studied harpsichord with Gustav Leonard in the 1970s, Robert Hill is currently a professor for historical keyboard instruments and performance practice in Freiburg, Germany. For this recording he used a reconstruction of a Florentine fortepiano c.1720 in the manner of Bartolomeo Cristofori, made by Keith Hill (Manchester, Michigan, USA, 1999).
