Leclair’s Violin Music with Leading Baroque Experts

February 4, 2008

From January 3 to 5 and 8 to10, violinist Adrian Butterfield (baroque violin), together with Laurence Cummings (harpsichord) and Alison McGillivray (viola da gamba) recorded Jean-Marie Leclair’s Premier Livre de Sonates à violon seul avec la basse continue(Op. 1): Sonatas 1 to 12. Adrian Butterfield is ideally suited to this 18th century repertoire, being Professor of Baroque Violin at the Royal College of Music, conductor of the RCM Baroque Orchestra and leader of the London Handel Players.

Sessions took place at St. Mary's Church, Walthamstow, London, UK. Annette Isserlis was the producer. The engineer was Ben Connellan.
