In 1987, German businessman Klaus Heymann launched Naxos in Hong Kong bringing change in the price structure of classical music and sparking cultural prejudice along the way. Critics sniffed at an independent label pitting itself among giant record labels. Now celebrating its 25th year, Naxos keeps itself afloat, indeed thrives, in a global trend of declining CD sale in classical music.
