NICOLOSI RECORDS CLARA SCHUMANN
At the end of May 2004, the Italian city of Naples was the location for a brand new recording of Clara (wife of Robert) Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor, (1837).
Clara began composing the Piano Concerto in A Minor at the age of 14. She then performed the completed concerto at age l6 with the Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestra, conducted by Felix Mendelssohn. It is a dramatic and innovative work, a record of her own virtuosity and independent musical thinking.
The piano soloist was Francesco Nicolosi, here recording his 11th recording for Naxos. Accompanying him were the 'Alma Mahler Sinfonietta', conducted by Stefania Rinaldi.
