Naxos and Xingtone Bring Sound of World Cup to Mobile Phones
Independent classical music label Naxos has teamed up with mobile media
company Xingtone, Inc., to offer customized classical music ringtones
for fans of soccer and the World Cup. Fans in the U.S. and Canada
can now go to http://naxosdirect.com/worldcupringtones/
to choose their own customized ringtones from a selection of national
anthems from countries participating in the World Cup tournament, as well
as tracks from Naxos's album Gloria Stadium: 2006 Football Classics.
"Soccer fans are super-supportive of their teams and what better
way to show off that support than by having their own country's anthem
as their new ringtone," said Jim Sturgeon, CEO of Naxos of America.
"With our World Cup ringtones, there will be no mistaking their team
allegiance when their mobile phone rings."
Naxos's World Cup ringtone store is a natural extension of the company's
aggressive push in the digital media arena which includes Naxos.com, the
company's comprehensive website, Naxos Music Library (www.naxosmusiclibrary.com),
a streaming service for libraries and educational institutions, Naxos
Web Radio (www.naxosradio.com), with more than 60 channels, and Naxos
AudioBooks, which offers its material for download on Audible.com.
"Naxos is a very progressive company," said Jonathan Schreiber,
president and chief executive officer of Xingtone, Inc. "They're
delivering mobile content for the World Cup that is timely and targeted
to a passionate user base, which is a good recipe for success."
Xingtone provided Naxos with all of the necessary back-end functionality
for its new online store, including hosting, storefront, shopping cart,
payment processing, and on-the-fly ringtone format conversion to make
the company's World Cup ringtones available for soccer and tournament
fans. Additionally, Xingtone is an off-carrier solution, which allows
company's with a strong web presence, like Naxos, to offer mobile content
delivery over the air (OTA) to a customer’s mobile phone, independent
of carrier gate keeping.
