DACAPO HAS DONE IT AGAIN - 12 RECORDINGS NOMINATED FOR DMA CLASSICAL AWARDS 2002
March 22, 2002
This year again the Dacapo label is behind most of the nominated recordings that can be considered for the coveted prize Danish Music Award Classical 2002, which will be presented at a gala concert on 22nd May at 7.30 p.m. in the Tivoli Concert Hall.
In the category "Danish Solo Release of the Year" all three nominations are from Dacapo. They are Thomas Trondhjem with Weyse's piano sonatas, Rolf Hind with piano works by Poul Ruders and Jorgen Ellegard Frederiksen with Leif Kayser's organ works.
"Danish Vocal Release of the Year" may go to one of Dacapo's recordings, the Danish Radio Sinfonietta conducted by Giordano Bellincampi with Weyse's Singspiel "The Sleeping Draught" or the Copenhagen Boys' Choir conducted by Ebbe Munk with Buxtehude's Vocal Music Vol. 2.
In the category "Danish Chamber Music Release of the Year" two Dacapo names are among the nominations: Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen conducted by Giordano Bellincampi with Vagn Holmboe's Preludes for Sinfonietta Vol. 2 and the Nordlys ensemble for its debut CD Nordlys.
In "Danish Orchestral Release of the Year" we find two recordings conducted by Thomas Dausgaard: the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra playing Asger Hamerik's Symphonies 5 og 6 and the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra with Rued Langgaard's Symphonies 6-8. Dausgaard is in fact also responsible for the last of the three recordings nominated in the category.
Dacapo is further behind all releases in the category "Danish Classical Release of the Year", where Thomas Dausgaard is again strongly represented. The nominations are the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thomas Dausgaard with Asger Hamerik's Symphonies 5 and 6, the Danish Radio Sinfonietta conducted by Giordano Bellincampi with "The Sleeping Draught" and the Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thomas Dausgaard with Rued Langgaard's Symphonies 9-11.
