SCHWANEN SALON ORCHESTRA When its members met in 1990 to venture together, in addition to their varied engagements in other
ensembles, into the field of earlier light music, a decision was quickly reached: the name for the new orchestra
would be taken from the old inn, long since converted into a music school, Zum Schwanen, At the Sign of the
Swan, where the first rehearsal took place. The close ties of friendship between the musicians and the inspiring
character of the leader, the violinist Georg Huber, have provided since then not only a continuity of membership
but also a freshness of approach in concert appearances, broadcasts and recordings in which there has been a
shared increase in professionalism and emotional commitment. The Salonorchester Schwanen can thus look back
on a wealth of experience, with concerts in Germany from Konstanz to Juist, participation in festivals, including
the Mosel Festival Weeks and the Festival of Café Music, and numerous broadcasts with South-West German and
Hesse Radio.
