STUTTGART PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA The Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra has a distinguished history, originally as the symphony orchestra of the city of Stuttgart and coming together again after the war under its present title, to be sponsored from 1976 by the city of Stuttgart. This has allowed still further development. The orchestra, with its present musical director Jörg-Peter Weigle, has its own building, the Gustav-Siegle-Haus, and performs regularly in other towns of South-West Germany, with concert tours elsewhere in Germany and abroad, the latter throughout Europe, in Japan and in the United States of America. In addition to its work in the concert-hall, the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra has made a number of recordings and gives frequent broadcasts.
