Born in Moscow in 1987, Ivan Pochekin was the winner of the 2005 Vaclav Huml International Competition in Zagreb and 2005 Paganini Moscow International Violin Competition. He began to study the violin at the age of five with Galina Turchaninova and Maya Glezarova at the Moscow Central Music School, making his first solo appearance with orchestra at the age of seven. Since making his début with Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No 2, he has played in the most prestigious venues of Moscow, St Petersburg and other Russian cities, appearing with leading Russian and foreign orchestras and conductors. His début recording released by the Violin Art Foundation of Moscow, featured works by Chausson and Paganini, followed by a release of Russian chamber music repertoire with works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Khachaturian and Stravinsky. He began his collaboration with Naxos in 2007. Ivan Pochekin performs on the instruments of his father, Yuri Pochekin. From 2005 to 2010 he studied with the eminent Russian violinist Viktor Tretyakov. Since 2007 he has been an exclusive artist of the Moscow State Philharmonic Philharmonic Society.
