AINHOA ARTETA

The soprano Ainhoa Arteta came to international attention when she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Operalia—Plácido Domingo International Competition. Since her début in the United States in 1990 she has given successful performances in theatres such as the Metropolitan Opera House, The Washington Opera, Covent Garden in London, Bayrische Staatsoper in Munich, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Netherlands Opera, Amsterdam Opera, Graz Theater, The Scottish Opera, New Jersey, Seattle, San Francisco, and the Teatro Bellas Artes in México. She has been the recipient of a number of significant international awards, including Best classical music artist at the 5th Spanish Music Awards, the ONDAS Prize, the Federico Romero award by the Autor Foundation, the Universal Basque award given by the Basque Government, the Gold Microphone of Spanish Radio and Television of Spain, the Enric Granados Prize, and the Gold Medal of the Association of Friends of the Opera of Lleida, and the Arts Award of the City of Alcalá de Henares. She is a Patron of the Board of the Winterthur Foundation, an Academician of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Cádiz, Patron of the Board of the Orfeó Catalá-Palau de la Música Foundation, a Gold Medallist of the Palau de la Música de Valencia, and Artist in Residence of the Cadaqués Symphony Orchestra. Recent and future engagements include La Bohème, Eugene Onegin, Manon Lescaut, Turandot, Simon Boccanegra, Cyrano de Bergerac with Plácido Domingo, in theatres such as the Metropolitan, Liceu in Barcelona, ABAO, Las Palmas, Teatro alla Scala, Milan, and San Francisco, as well as concerts with the National Orchestra of Spain, the symphony orchestras of Galicia, Euskadi and Tenerife, and the orchestra of Cadaqués, conducted by Sir Neville Marriner, Gianandrea Noseda, Christopher Hogwood, Vasily Petrenko, Pablo González, Adrian Leaper, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Friedrich Haider, Pier Giorgio Morandi and Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez.
