Alessandro Milani graduated at the Turin Verdi Conservatory with full marks and went on to study with Salvatore Accardo at the Walter Stauffer Academy, Cremona. For two years he played with the former European Community Youth Orchestra (ECYO) and from 1995 has served as first violin with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. He has also played with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome and the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, Milan; working under conductors including Riccardo Chailly, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Antonio Pappano, Valery Gergiev, Carlo Maria Giulini, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Lorin Maazel and many others. His many recordings include Elgar’s Violin Concerto under Jeffrey Tate. He plays a 1711 Francesco Gobetti violin, generously lent by the Milan Pro Canale Foundation.
