ANA ESTER NEVES

Having graduated from the Lisbon Conservatory, soprano Ana Ester Neves continued her studies at London’s Royal Academy of Music, and also gained her master’s in performance from the University of Boston. In 1990 she was awarded the RAM’s Gilbert Betjemann and Ricordi prizes. She made her début at the Wiener Kammeroper as Micaëla in Carmen, going on to appear as Violetta in La traviata, the Countess in Le nozze de Figaro and, in the UK, Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. She has since appeared in La Bohème, Orphée aux enfers, Die Zauberflöte, Parsifal and Boris Godunov, among others, and has given recitals of Portuguese music in Paris, Madrid, London, Munich and Turin.
