ANNA ARMATYS Anna Armatys graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Kraków, in the cello class of Witold Herman, and completed master studies in the class Melos Quartet and cello class of Peter Buck in the Stuttgart Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. She received the Ministry of Culture and Art scholarship three times and took third prize at the Valentino Bucchi International Contemporary Music Competition in Rome (2002). She has participated in many master-courses. Since 1993 Anna Armatys has been a member of the Dafô String Quartet, winner of several prizes at international chamber music competitions. Together with that ensemble, she has made several recordings for radio, television and on CD. Two discs of Polish twentieth-century string quartets brought her the Fryderyk prize (PWM/DUX). She performs with various chamber ensembles and as guest concertmaster with different orchestras. Anna Armatys works at the Academy of Music in Kraków as string quartet and cello teacher.
