The German soprano Anne Schwanewilms is considered one of today’s finest singers of Strauss and Wagner. Because of her unique stage presence and versatile voice, she is highly coveted in the international opera scene and as a singer in oratorios and lieder recitals. Her repertoire ranges from Italian opera, lyrical German and French works to more recent composers such as Franz Schreker. She has collaborated with renowned conductors and orchestras on the opera and concert stages of the world. Among these are the Berlin Philharmonic, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, and such conductors as Sir Colin Davis, Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly and James Levine. An eminent lieder singer, Anne Schwanewilms works closely with Roger Vignoles and Malcolm Martineau. With the former she recorded a selection of Strauss songs, nominated by BBC Music Magazine as Vocal Recording of the Year 2008. Anne Schwanewilms was honoured with a Singer of the Year Award by the magazine Opernwelt in 2002.
