ZANE BANKS

The guitarist Zane Banks has performed in Europe, Asia and in his native Australia. Whilst at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music he studied classical guitar with Gregory Pikler, Aleksandr Tsiboulski and Phillip Houghton as well as jazz guitar with Steve Brien. In 2008 he graduated from the same institution with first class Honours in their Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree. An active member of the Australian contemporary music scene, he is the founder of the Australian Electric Guitar Ensemble and has performed at the ISCM World New Music Days (Sydney), Melbourne International Arts Festival and on radio for ABC Classic FM and 2MBS FM. He also regularly performs with numerous rock and contemporary popular groups which complements the work he has undertaken with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the Eminence Symphony and Eminence Ensemble, as well as the Modern Music Ensemble at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He continues to perform with the Chronology Arts Ensemble and is currently completing his Doctorate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the supervision of the composer Matthew Hindson.
