BARCELONA 216 Established in 1985, the result of the joint initiative of the composer and conductor Ernest Martínez Izquierdo and flautist David Albet, current Artistic Director of the ensemble, BCN216 has become an important feature of music in Spain, working to standardise and disseminate contemporary repertoire from Spain and abroad. In response to changing musical situations BCN216 has at its disposal a flexible and versatile chamber ensemble, capable of performing a varied repertoire, ranging from solo pieces to works for up to forty players. As a resident of the Auditori in Barcelona and while continuing with the policy of recordings and international performances, the ensemble is not closed to exchange with other art forms, such as dance, theatre or cinema, and finds additional stimulus in such collaboration.
