Born in Cairns, Australia, Bernard Lanskey has performed throughout Australia, Great Britain and in most European countries, working principally with string players and singers in chamber music, mixed recital and lecture-recital combinations. In his most recent work he has focused on the middle and late repertoire of a succession of pianist-composers—Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, Bartók—each of whom also saw chamber music and song as central to their compositional life. For the past seven years he has worked with the television journalist, John Suchet, with whom he has performed regularly throughout Great Britain, offering lecture-recital presentations on Beethoven and Johann Strauss.

He has recorded four-hand piano music by Brahms, Schubert, and Australian composer Andrew Schultz with the Australian label Tall Poppies. Before taking up the position of Director of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Singapore, Bernard Lanskey held the position of Assistant Director of Music at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
