Bernhard Schneider studied with Hans Sotin at the Cologne Musikhochschule. After engagements in Krefeld-Mönchengladbach and Gelsenkirchen-Wuppertal he made his Bayreuth début in 1996, appearing there as Vogelgesang in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, the Sailor in Tristan und Isolde, First Noble in Lohengrin and Knappe in Parsifal. In Bremen he made a guest appearance as David and as Ernesto in Don Pasquale. In 1998 he became a member of Stuttgart Opera where he has appeared as Andres in Wozzeck, Truffaldino in The Love for Three Oranges, Kilian, Lucano/Famigliare in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Chekalinsky in The Queen of Spades and an Algerian in Nono’s Intolleranza 1960. He was also seen as Iro in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, Alfred, Don Velasco in Masaniello furioso and a young man in Moses und Aron. He has appeared as Wenzel, Usobaldo di Mare in Die Gezeichneten, Pang in Turandot, Oronte in Alcina, Janek in The Makropoulos Case and the First Jew in Salome, as well as in the rôles of Pastore/Spirito I in Orfeo, the First Armed Man in Die Zauberflöte, First Student from Kraków in Doktor Faust and Evandre in Alceste.
