Lars Thodberg Bertelsen, baritone

Lars Thodberg Bertelsen (baritone) made his debut in 1987 and has ever since been a regular guest singer with the Danish National Opera in Aarhus and with the Danish regional orchestras, as well as having engagements on radio and TV: He has also made his mark as a singer of Lieder and oratorio, and has performed with conductors like Gary Bertini, John Alldis, Willi Gohl, Richard Hickox and Peter Schreier, Among major operatic roles he has sung Figaro in Rossini's The Barber of Seville, Guglielmo in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Johan in Dupuy's Youth and Folly, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, Marcel in La Bohème, the Count in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Gurther in Wagner's Gütterdämmerung, Prince René in The Count of Luxembourg, Doctor Malatesta in Donizetti's Don Pasquale and Papageno in The Magic Flute. Lars Thodberg Bertelsen has recorded several CDs, for example with the tenor Ernst Haefliger in Franz Tischhauser's Die Hampeloper in a recording in Zürich, Switzerland. He has also recorded early Schoenberg Lieder, songs by Carl Nielsen, a collected edition of Niels W. Gade's songs, and Telemann cantatas for baritone and chamber orchestra. He has received several awards including the Aksel Schiøtz Prize 1990.
