BLAIR FAIRCHILD

(1877 - 1933)

The American composer Blair Fairchild studied at Harvard and then in Italy, before an initial career in business and as a diplomat in Turkey and in Persia, an influence on his music. He studied with Widor in Paris, where he settled. Associated marginally with the American Indianists, he was influenced largely by his contemporaries in Paris and by the thematic resources of the Middle East.
