EDUARD BRUNNER

Eduard Brunner began his musical education in Basel, the city of his birth. Further studies were continued with Louis Cahuzac at the Paris Conservatoire. He became principal clarinettist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich under Rafael Kubelik, and for many years was professor for clarinet and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken. At present he is professor of chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, as well at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid. For over fifty years concert engagements have taken Eduard Brunner to all parts of the world, both as soloist and as member of chamber music ensembles. He has recorded well over 250 works for clarinet for different labels with musicians including Gidon Kremer, Oleg Kagan, Natalia Gutman, Yuri Bashmet, Alfred Brendel, and the Hagen, Borodin and Cleveland Quartets, among others, with whom he has also collaborated in concerts. He has been a guest artist at music festivals and a member of juries of international competitions throughout the world.
