The soprano Carolina Ullrich was born in Chile and studied at the Papal Catholic University of Santiago (Chile) with Ahlke Scheffelt, graduating in 2004 summa cum laude. She continued her studies with Edith Wiens in Augsburg, and in October 2005 entered the Munich Hochschule für Musik und Theater, where she completed master-classes in concert singing and musical theatre. In 2006 she was awarded the second prize in the ARD competition, as well as the audience prize. She won first prize in the Federal Song Competition of Berlin, along with the prize for best interpretation of a modern piece. She holds a scholarship from the Association of the Friends of Young Music of Berlin, and won the Young Concert Artists Competition of New York in 2009. Carolina Ullrich gained significant experience in opera at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago (Chile), with rôles including Despina and Zerlina. She has also had wide concert and broadcasting experience, in repertoire ranging from Bach’s Passions and Handel oratorios to Brahms’s German Requiem and Lieder.
