Natale De Carolis began his studies with Renato Guelfi and completed them with Maria Vittoria Romano. He was the first prize winner of the Treviso Toti Dal Monte Competition and made his professional début in 1983 at the A. Belli Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto in the rôle of Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia. Renowned around the world as one of the best interpreters of the main Rossini and Mozart rôles, Natale De Carolis made his début at the Teatro alla Scala on the opening night of the 1987/8 season in Don Giovanni with Riccardo Muti. Important débuts followed in many renowned theatres and productions: in 1988, his American début at the Metropolitan Opera in the title rôle of Le nozze di Figaro; in 1991, his first performance at Sydney Opera in Don Giovanni. From then on he has enjoyed a brilliant career throughout Europe, the Americas, Israel and Australia, collaborating with important conductors and stage directors: Le nozze di Figaro (Figaro; Metropolitan Opera with James Levine; Zurich with Nikolaus Harnoncourt; Teatro alla Scala under the baton of Riccardo Muti; Venice Teatro La Fenice and Vienna State Opera), La Cenerentola (Don Magnifico; Carnegie Hall), Handel’s Rinaldo (Teatro La Fenice and Madrid), Mozart’s Requiem (Teatro La Fenice), Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia (Naples Teatro di San Carlo), Don Giovanni (in the rôle of Leporello at the Florence Teatro Comunale under Zubin Mehta, at the Metropolitan Opera with James Levine, and at the Vienna State Opera; in the title rôle in Frankfurt under Sylvain Cambreling; in Sydney, Lisbon, Antibes, at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, at Glyndebourne and in Tel Aviv), Così fan tutte (Guglielmo; Florence Teatro Comunale with Zubin Mehta, Glyndebourne Festival, Sydney and Naples), Tancredi (Bologna Teatro Comunale), L’occasione fa il ladro (Cologne), L’elisir d’amore (Dulcamara at the Vienna State Opera, at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo and at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin; the rôle of Belcore at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, staged by Hugo de Ana and Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro), Il matrimonio segreto (Conte Robinson; Bilbao), La gazza ladra (Fernando; Teatro La Fenice), Il turco in Italia (Naples), La Bohème (Bologna, Naples).
