Mario Cassi is the winner of several important international competitions: the “Toti Dal Monte” 2002, the “Viotti” 2002 (special Prize Cesare Bardelli), the Plácido Domingo Competition – Operalia 2003 (Zarzuela Prize), the Spiros Argiris 2004 (2nd Prize). He is specialising under the guidance of Bruno de Simone and Alessandra Rossi De Simone. He took a degree in Economy at the Università di Firenze.

He has enjoyed regular collaborations with conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Christophe Rousset Andris Nelsons, Michele Mariotti. His operatic repertoire spans from Handel, Porpora, Cavalli and Mozart to contemporary music, with special attention to the Italian bel canto works, such as those by Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini.

Highlights of his career are the rôle of Valentin in Faust at the Ravenna Festival 2005, under the baton of Patrick Fournillier; Salieri’s La grotta di Trofonio under the baton of Christophe Rousset, recorded with Les Talens Lyriques; Don Pasquale (Dottor Malatesta) with Riccardo Muti in Ravenna Festival, Wien Musikverein, St Petersburg Marijnsky, Liege, Cologne, Paris; La Bohème (Marcello) in several Italian theatres (Bergamo, Lucca, Ravenna, Salerno) and for its UK début at Birmingham’s CBSO. Forthcoming engagements include Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro) in Lima; Die Zaubeflöte (Papageno), La Bohème ( Marcello) and Le Nozze di Figaro (Figaro) in Liège; La Favorite and Elisir d’amore at the Bergamo Donizetti Music Festival; La Calisto in Paris, Carmen in Valencia; and Pagliacci (Silvio) for his La Scala début.
