Eliseo Castrignanò studied conducting under the guidance of Fabrizio Dorsi, Piero Bellugi, Bruno Aprea and Nicola Samale. After further tuition in Milan, Fiesole and Copenhagen, he received his master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Umberto Giordano Conservatory of Foggia where he was awarded a scholarship for best student of the year. As guest conductor, he has worked with leading orchestras throughout Italy, in other European countries and in China and Japan. He has worked as chorus master and music director at the Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce, the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu, China, the Auditori in Barcelona, Bunka Kaikan theatre inTokyo, the Arena in Prague and at the Rossini in Wildbad Festival in Germany (the present recording, Pavesi’s Ser Marcantonio [Naxos 8.660031-32], and Balducci’s La noce di Benevento in 2011).
