Du Chong studied at the Shanghai Conservatory Chinese Music
Department, subsequently joining the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra. He studied
under the di master Lu Chunling at an early age and is now a di (Chinese transverse
flute) soloist with the Shanghai Dance Company, proficient in both Northern
and Southern traditional styles of playing and able to play various wind instruments,
including the xiao (vertical bamboo flute), xun (clay vessel flute) and paixiao
(Chinese bamboo pipes).
