CHRISTINE GOERKE Christine Goerke, soprano
The soprano Christine Goerke has established an outstanding reputation in the few seasons since her professional début. Her extensive collaboration with Robert Shaw included her Carnegie Hall debut as soprano soloist in Britten’s War Requiem, performances of Mahler’s Eighth Symphony with the Cleveland Orchestra in Cleveland and Carnegie Hall, and recordings of Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, Poulenc’s Stabat Mater and Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater as well as Robert Shaw’s Grammy-nominated last recording of Dvořak’s Stabat Mater. An alumna of the Metropolitan Opera’s Young Artist Development Program, Christine Goerke has been honoured with the ARIA and George London awards, and was the recipient of a 1997 Tucker Foundation Career Grant.
