CHRISTOPHER GILLETT

Christopher Gillett studied at King’s College Cambridge and made his Covent Garden début in 1984 at the age of 25. He has sung many rôles for the Royal Opera and English National Opera, and for opera houses throughout Europe. Recent appearances have included appearances with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras and opera engagements in Sydney, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, Madrid and at La Scala Milan. As well as several Proms appearances, concert performances have included Henze’s Voices with Oliver Knussen at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Concertgebouw, the Evangelist in Bach’s St Matthew Passion for the Bach Choir at the Royal Festival Hall, and Peter Grimes with the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Colin Davis in New York. He has sung Britten’s War Requiem in Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Taipei, Brno and Bratislava. Recordings include the title rôle in Britten’s Albert Herring (Naxos 8.660107–08).
