ROBERT COOK

Robert Cook was born in Dunfermline and was awarded a Carnegie scholarship to study horn and organ at London’s Guildhall school of Music. Upon leaving London he was appointed principal horn of the Ulster Orchestra at the age of twenty, before joining the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra some eight years later. In 1985 Robert Cook left Wales to return to his native Scotland as principal horn of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, a position he held for twenty years, during which time he made guest principal appearances with several other orchestras, most notably with Scottish Opera in their Wagner Ring Cycle.
