CORNELIA ROSENTHAL Cornelia Rosenthal was born in Leipzig and had her first music lessons at the age of five. From 1996 she studied singing at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig under Jürgen Kurth, graduating in 2002. She was also coached by Jeanette Favaro-Reuter and Karin Mitzscherling, and took part in masterclasses with Iris Vermillion (Bachwoche Stuttgart) and Annette Markert.
As a freelance oratorio and concert singer she performs all over Germany, Denmark, Hungary and the United States, including appearances at the Music Summer in Mecklenburg Vorpommern, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Bachfest in Leizig, Köthen and Thüringen, the Magdeburg Telemann Festival, the Thüringer Orgelsommer and the Quedlinburg Music Summer. She works with the Thomanerchor Leipzig, and the Gewandhausorchestra, the amici musicae, choir and orchestra Leipzig, the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra, and the Halle and Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestras, and she has collaborated in a number of recordings and broadcasts. Her main repertoire centres on works of the Baroque and Romantic periods. She complements her solo work by singing in different ensembles such as the Immortal Bach Ensemble (formerly known as the Gewandhaus Chamber Choir) and the MDR Choir.
