The Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, founded in 1969, is one of the Czech Republic’s leading orchestras, with a repertoire that ranges from the baroque to the contemporary. Its first principal conductor, Libor Pešek, raised the orchestra to a high standard and subsequent principal conductors have included Libor Hlavaček, Petr Altrichter, Bohumil Kulinsky, Petr Škvor, Robert Stankovsky, Leoš Svarovsky and Marko Ivanović. The current principal conductor is Peter Feranec. The orchestra often performs at the Czech Republic’s most important festivals, including the Prague Spring International Festival, the Litomyšl Smetana International Opera Festival, and the International Česky Krumlov Festival, and at many important venues in Europe and further afield, with concerts in Japan and extensive concert tours to America. The orchestra has collaborated with many distinguished conductors, among others Jiři Bělohlavek, Marco Armiliato, and Mariss Jansons and with prominent soloists and choirs. Apart from concert-giving the orchestra regularly engages in operatic and theatre projects and has many recordings to its credit on Naxos, Arco Diva, Supraphon, Classico, Monitor-EMI, and Amabile.
