Born in 1987 in San Giovanni Rotondo, Matteo D’Apolito began his vocal training, after studying the piano, in 2005 at the Umberto Giordano Conservatory in Foggia. In the same year he won third prize in the I Musici competition for young opera-singers at San Nicandro Garganico. In 2007 he participated in various concerts in Foggia organised by A.GI.MUS., and in the same year appeared as Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in a concert recital. He has also participated in the Musica delle Corti di Capitanata Festival in Foggia. His appearances as a soloist include Mozartiana at the Turin Teatro Baretti and at the Assaggi di Musica Festival, where he sang in Mozart’s Coronation Mass. In June 2009 he made his début as Leporello in a semi-staged performance of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and in 2010 sang in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and in Fauré’s Requiem. His other rôles include Don Bartolo in Rossini’s and in Paisiello’s Il barbiere di Siviglia and Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. In February 2011 he made his début as Mamm’Agata at the Pisa Teatro Verdi in Donizetti’s Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali.
