DANIELE CALLEGARI

Daniele Callegari was born in Milan and carried out his musical studies at the Conservatory of his native city. A winner of the Teatro alla Scala International Competition, in 1982 he became a member of the La Scala Orchestra. After several important débuts, since 1989 he has appeared as a conductor of the most important musical institutions around the world, including the Bayerische Staatsoper, Berlin Deutsche Oper, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Carlo Felice di Genova, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Dresden Musik Festspiel, Frankfurt Oper, Gurzenich Fil. Orchester, Teatro Liceu of Barcelona, Macerata Opera, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Massimo Bellini di Catania, M.D.R Orchester, Muncher Rundfunk Orchester, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, New Japan Foundation, Opéra Marseille, Orchestra Regionale della Toscana, Orquestra Sinfonica de Madrid, Orchestra A. Toscanini, Philarmonique de Montecarlo, Regio di Parma, Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Théâtre de La Monnaie in Brussels, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Orchestra Sinfonica della Rai and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma. Between 1998 and 2000 he worked as Principal Conductor at the prestigious Wexford Opera Festival.

He was on the podium of La Monnaie as the conductor of the world première of Oedipe sur la route by Pierre Bartholomée and of La Bohème. At Liceu in Barcelona, he gained great acclaim conducting a new production of Norma. Daniele Callegari made his début at the Staatsoper unter den Linden in Berlin, in a new production of L’Elisir d’amore.

Daniele Callegari’s discography includes Alice by Testoni and Wolf-Ferrari’s I Quatro rusteghi, La Traviata, La Gioconda, Mascagni’s Messa di Gloria, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Il Trovatore and Oberto conte di San Bonifacio and a CD dedicated to concert arias by Mozart.
