FERRUCCIO FURLANETTO

The distinguished Italian bass Ferruccio Furlanetto was born in 1949 in Sacile and at first studied classical philology and natural science before, at the age of 22, turning to a career in music, making his début as a singer in 1974. Four years later he made his début in the United States in New Orleans, singing Zaccaria in Verdi’s Nabucco, and the following year he made his first appearance at La Scala, Milan, singing Banquo in Verdi’s Macbeth. He has continued with an international career that has taken him to major opera-houses throughout the world and brought collaboration with leading conductors, from Herbert von Karajan to Georg Solti, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Bernard Haitink, Georges Prêtre, James Levine, Semyon Bychkov, Riccardo Muti, Valery Gergiev, Daniele Gatti, Vladimir Jurowski, Gianandrea Noseda and others. Ferruccio Furlanetto is Honorary Ambassador to the United Nations and a Kammersänger and Ehrenmitglied of the Vienna State Opera.
