The conductor and violinist Guillermo Figueroa is currently Music Director of the Colorado Music in the Mountains Festival, and formerly Music Director of the New Mexico Symphony and the Puerto Rico Symphony. He was Concertmaster of the New York City Ballet, and also a Founding Member and Concertmaster of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He has given the premières of four violin concertos written for him, the Concertino by Mario Davidovsky, at Carnegie Hall with Orpheus; Double Concerto by Harold Farberman, with the American Symphony at Lincoln Center; Violin Concerto by Miguel del Águila, with the New Mexico Symphony and Ínsula, by Ernesto Cordero, with the Solisti di Zagreb. He has also appeared as conductor with the orchestras of Detroit, New Jersey, Phoenix, Toronto, Iceland, México, Córdoba (Spain), Chile and the Baltic Philharmonic in Poland. Guillermo Figueroa performs on a 1686 Stradivarius, the “Figueroa Strad”.
