The Forde Ensemble, whose performances are based predominantly at the legendary recording venue of Forde Abbey, is a flexible chamber ensemble comprising outstanding string principals from major London orchestras, all invited to form this ensemble by the record producer, Erik Smith. Their performances focus primarily on the virtuosic string chamber works allowing full rein to this combination of musical personalities. Their season includes a residency and annual festival of chamber concerts within the substantial grounds of Forde Abbey every summer, offering the musicians the opportunity to explore and present key areas of the chamber repertory over the period of the festival. Forde Abbey Concert Society presents this annual series of concerts and across the season invite celebrated international artists for solo recitals alongside their resident ensemble. This début recording has been made possible by the support of both Forde Abbey Concert Society and the Nancy Hadwen Charitable Trust.
